Allan Harmer, ThM, DMin
Midwest Regional Director
Allan J. Harmer, ThM, DMin is an ordained minister, having received a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Prior to joining the staff of Christian Medical & Dental Associations, he served for nine years as an Associate Pastor over Christian Education and Family Ministries in suburban Washington, D.C.
During his years in our nation's capital, Allan also served as an Associate Staff trainer with Leadership Dynamics International, leading seminars in: Leadership Development; Team Building; and Faith Planning. He also served as a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Washington Bible College.
Born in a small northeast Nebraska farming community, Allan committed his life to Jesus Christ as Savior at seven years of age through the testimony of his father. Later during his college days he led a weekly Bible study and became persuaded of the importance of further training in God's Word.
Allan joined the staff of Christian Medical & Dental Associations in 1988 as the Midwest Regional Director His responsibilities, which comprise an 11 state area and more than 5,000 members, includes: leadership training among student leaders and faculty advisors on more than 80 medical, dental and podiatric campuses; organizing continuing education events, developing community ministry among doctors and providing personal counseling for CMDA members. Allan currently supervises 23 full and part-time staff.
In addition to his regional responsibilities, Allan served as a staff advisor to CMDA’s Medical Malpractice Ministry and for seven years served as CMDA’s National Field Director.
Concerned about the needs in their community, Allan and his wife Karen have served on their local Campus Life Board, volunteered at an inner city mission, led a ministry to young single professionals in their church and led a home Bible Study for young married couples. Karen just completed her fifth term on their local school board (elected office). The Harmer’s have four children, eight grand-children and live in Fishers, Indiana (a suburb of Indianapolis).
